Now I know many if not all the Guys on site enjoy sport.....ahh!! 'Football' well has anyone from Cobh......and that includes the lasses as well. Ever taken part in a Charity or Fun Run of say over ten miles.
Or has anyone done the walk or run around the Great Island?.....cheers Katy:) :)

The Island is 9 miles long by 4 1/2 wide. I used to run the dublin marathon about 10 years ago. Myself and another guy used run home from work at Little island every Friday and then do a 1/2 lap of the Island to round it off. One day while we were passing the water pump on the Tay Road, we found it was out of action. As we had already passed the 20 K mark without water, dehydratrion started to kick in. While we were out around the back of the Island, my body started to go cold and into shock. I had to call it a day then and walk home.

I remember the second year I ran the Dub marathon, Charlie Bird the news journalist was also running for some charity. I decided to latch on to him for a laugh as i knew that the TV cameras would be on him at some stage and i wanted to whind him and my SF colleagues up when it would turn up on TV. I chatted away with him for about the first 12 miles miles and could see that he hadnt a clue who I was or my background. When we went this small bridge Bryan Dobson the newsreader was there with a camera crew shouting him on, I put my fist in the air and left out a huge roar for a laugh. Didnt the feckers edit me out of it for the news that evening. I guess someone figured out who the mad Cork fella was after all!
