I recently sent an email to 95 Cobh Exiles informing/reinforming them about his site. Of that 95, just two registered. I really do sometimes wonder if the Net has yet caught on in the town.

Hi Elisedal

Wishing you and your family all the very best for 2007, did you get home for christmas? or are you still on your travels.....:)

Like your reply to Mike, I also wish more would use the site....ahh!! as I cover my family research I always give a link to this site and I have lost count how many times I mention Cobh.....I wish I had the answer..saying that January is a strange month, for people starting new projects.....we will just have to keep promoting CobhNet .....cheers Katy:)

I reckon you lived in Cobh in a previous life Katy. Maybe you were one of those oversee'rs that flogged the convicts that had free travel to the then visa-free Australia. I agree with the previos post that the exiles dont have internet access in Cobh, but maybe Mike you might consider that they want feck all to do with us or the place! lol. :D On a serious note Mike, perhaps you should make contact with the 95 families here in Cobh and get them to use the site to communicate with their Kin abroad!

Confused Here or is it dementia? Mike if you emailed Cobh exiles about the site! Why would that have any effect on the folk in Cobh having caught on to the internet?

That got us thinking Ned. Maybe Mike meant he got all the contact addresses from the Cobh side and they werent that helpful.

On a different point, I see the GAA have announced that non Irish people will soon be playing in the All Ireland Finals at Croke Park. I think thats their way of saying that many non national youths are participating in the games at local level. A letter in thismorns examiner from Kerry is looking forward to such people bringing Sam back to the Kingdom! Following on from sport, isnt it only a matter of time when non- nationals will involve themselves in politics. A Polish Toiseach? :D

What if ........a local business said they would sponsor re, the 'Prize'...eg Free Hair do.....or Fitness session, or Free Meal for two.....two age groups 'Senior and Junior' local sport shop may have the 'Prize' for the Junior..............The sponsor/sponsors get free advertising in the media, so does Cobhnet.com....and they do say the Webmaster is a great Guy, he takes a grand photo.....:) ;) And as I have organised a similar comp in past.......ahh!! I submit :) and offer to be a judge if you want........ooooooooohhhhh!!! you Cobh guys need coaxing......lol
Have a think about my idea.....see what the others think! ......cheers Katy:)

Mike
11-01-2007, 09:09
a thread thats made 'sticky' by an Admin or Moderator and always remains at the top all the time as opposed to dropping down when a new thread is started
