View Full Version : Residents turn out in numbers
Residents of the Links turned out in numbers last night, 53 I believe was the count. Absolutely totally encouraging. I was stunned to see so many attend. I was actually under the impression that our meeting had been hijacked by those wanting to watch the Roy Keane testimonial on the TV.
Alot of ground was covered and alot of progress made. We also now have the Application Form to apply to Cork County Council for funding.
This was also a great opportunity to get to know your neighbours.
Thanks to all that attended.

Where are the links Mike? I haven't the faintest idea!
Down the hill from the Pirates Rugby Club Ned. It extends more or less down to the Railway Bridge. 700 houses. Can't remember what that land used to be called but am sure Kieran will tell us.

I thought that would have been closer to carraigloe than rushbrooke? I mean ballynoe hill!
Exactly what I thought as well. Have no idea who names these places though. Some of it is under Cork County Council duristiction and the rest under Cobh Urban.
:)Mega..brilliant news regarding turn out at the meeting, its right what my Nan used to say 'we have people who talk...then we have people who take action'
The good people of Cobh, just needed someone to light the way....this is only the start of lots of great things for Cobh..well done to all the organisers. regards Katy
I was one of the mentioned 51 there last night and must say I think the meeting went off great. Well done to all concerned. I think that having a Residents Association is a great idea for our estate. Must say that I too was surprised at how many turned up and like someone said last night, its usually only a handful that go to things like these. Am I right in saying the nest meeting is on Tuesday June 13th?
Firstly .........thanks for attending.
Yes...... 13th June is the next one. Hope to see you there.
For Neds benefit and any at the Links who would like a little History lesson. Ned I'm sure you remember Blue Bell Woods. Thats where Rushbrooke Links is built. We used to play cowboys and idians there as snappers. Built tree houses and other mad things there. You mentioned Carrigaloe, well this and Newtown farm right down to the nuns at Norwood was all part of Fota estate one time. Lord Barrymore estate to give it its propper title and the grove/ bushfield was part of it also. Well done Mike and all for a successful meeting. I reckon it was inspite of the boy Keane that people went out,ha ha -K
