Re the 'Litter Bug' article about the young woman that got out of the rear car door and dumped two items of rubbish on the path down to the bench....................I say name them and shame them.

If people won't come forward and do the business then this sort of this will continue. NAME AND SHAME I SAY

I agree. Name then and shame them as doing so may put a stop to it

Editor here, Funny you should both suggest the name and shame approach. Last night at a Council meeting, the Town Architect suggested that the Council should name and shame the owners of derelict properties. It remains to be seen if such an approach will work, especially since most of them dont live in Cobh. As for the local woman who dumped from the booth of her car, well thats really for the person who sent the notice into me to take up. Perhaps that Gent might still take that cousre, especially if she hasnt returned to retrieve her rubbish!

Name and Shame? methinks there could be a lot of more serious topics that could be named and shamed than somebody dumpin a bit of rubbish. I know dumping rubbish is'nt the best but at least that can be cleaned up!
How about underage drinking and drug taking? Lets name the publicans who are serving alcohol to underage drinkers and also any liquor outlet that are not obeying the rules?
