What does the european union not understand about NO, Ireland said NO, so obviously they mean NO. Get back to the drawing board! Our No is just as good as the french or german NO! Is it me or am I missing something???

NINE - is that how the Germans say it, or Nil as we had on some posters. It doesnt really matter what they think Fulla, its how Brian Cowen delivers it to them which will be the big issue. He can say its dead (and it will be) or he can go begging and apologising and ask for a second chance! Which option do you think will prevail?

I think the people of Europe haven't played their hand yet. They clearly can't rush this process but they don't have time on their side. Germany has federal elections next year, and there's a strong chance that Angela Merkel could lose - that could change the whole ball game.

Its the same the world over a referendum is put to the people and the people vote for what they want, if it does'nt suit the pollies they want to put the same referendum to the people in quick time, spending more taxpayers money on advertising to try and change the outcome. In all seriousness the pollies are telling us that we don't have a clue whats good for us! Democracy my arse!

me thinks its our government who are once again in denial. Now they are trying to come up with this all party agreement to force trough a new agreement or referendum. Sure everyone knows that they all agreed for the treaty except for Sinn Fein. Now they will all agree again and say that Sinn Fein represents only a minority in the dail. Whos kidding who?

The people are sovereign according to the constitution - mind you Kieran, I don't agree with Sinn Féin on their call for renegotiation. As far as I'm concerned the people have spoken and there is nothing to renegotiate!

What they voted on Fulla was the treaty that was put before them. What Sinn Fein is saying is that its dead, decided upon, no going back and if the other states are insisting on going ahead regardless, then they better do it through a different agreement, one which our governement could and should be renegociating on. After all, we all know they are going to do it with or without us, so rather than have the same deal foisted upon us with the yellow conivence of our own government and opposition/establishment parties, isnt it better that we have some say and control over what we get?

Well Kieran, we have said No. Renegotiation will be based on the principles of Lisbon and it won't be Sinn Féin or anyone on the left who's doing the renegotiation but the same b's who negotiated it in the first place. Remember it's not just a couple of flaws in Lisbon, the whole document is about furthering the process of EU integration. It's just my opinion - that SF are giving hostage to fortune by given these people another go - let's hold what we have (the No vote). No renegotiation, no backing down.

Personnally I am very glad that Irish citizens have said NO to the Lisbon Treaty. You're all saving europe guys !!!!!
from a French point of view.

Merci Karibou but now we need fellow Europeans to stand up for the Irish against people like Monsieur Sarkozy and our own government who want to reverse our vote.

They were all given a fright with the latest opinon poll yesterday. Suddenly they (our government) are all anti-brit now for interfering in Irish affairs with their anti euro opinion polls. The good news -if its accurate, is that people will reject the treaty again if they try to foist the same old shite back on them in another referendum. My guess is that despite their cynicism, Cowen will be very wary of those poll findings and will put his own future ahead of his loyalty to Sarkoxy and Co.

Yes, the hypocrisy of Micheál Martin is breath-taking. It's just blatant the way they can talk about re-running the vote. Those who think we live in a democracy should think again.
