That's a pity Ned. Perhaps you'll reconsider. Katy seems to have disappeared too. Are you out there Katy? Are myself and Kieran the last of the Mohicans?

Ned Kelly

Came back in to see if anythings happening, thanks for your reply Fulla.
I have tried to keep this place going with different ideas such as the top ten tunes and that but I seemed to have failed miserably, sad to see a forum, once so full of life now dying a slow death, more than likely due to some of my own contributions.

Just spotted your post also Ned, sad that it has come to this but i think you are right when you said it was due to some of your contributions, and some of mine. I feel we both contributed to turning off some like Katy with our political wrangling. (Paisley is laughing now). It shouldnt have or didnt have to be so. I tried and I know I'm not faultless here but when you declared that you are not prepared to agree to disagree, I'm afraid it was all lost, and those viewing this site must have been as turned off as me. I was never a 100% sucessful at this but I always believed that respecting (not agreeing with) the other persons point of view was a very important tenet of Republicanism, but maybe thats just me. I recently tried to shy away from these debates and moved to the sport section but noone seemed to bite there. I now found another one of Mikes sports sites, less contentous and easier to discuss and debate local issues.
I hope you dont throw the towel in here Ned as I'm sure others will come back on eventually. Good luck mate!

Don't fret lads. I haven't abandoned you but it's just that I've been more or less up to my eye with Ramblers stuff of late but that's all ceased now as the Membership cards are done and its only the site to take care of really.

I promised some time ago that I would update the site and add more features. I've just finished updating the Football Discussion site at www.onefootballforum.com/forums (http://www.onefootballforum.com/forums) and will start on the CobhNet one today I hope.........I'll try to add Blogs and Video etc etc as we go.

Mike
28-05-2008, 10:09
Ok.I've upgraded the software now and you might see a few changes especially in your profiles. I'll get around to adding the Blog feature, Video and Radio section later today.

The Blog feature is quite handy as it enables you all to have your own blog on this site

Someone piss in your cornflakes of late Ned?

Kieran
29-05-2008, 16:03
Just back after Mike opened the gate to me again. No wish to re-argue the toss again Ned but you plainly did not respect where I was coming from, and although I too discovered that you are not the person I thought you were, i still atleast attempted to accept your right to differ and (agree to disagree). Nuff said, as you often put yourself!

Ned Kelly
30-05-2008, 11:39
I just wish I Knew where your coming from K as conflicting posts from you have put me in that situation.
As for Mike naw nowan has pissed in my cornflakes, thats a bit rich coming from you!

Kieran
30-05-2008, 13:10
I dont know Ned, I'm trying to see how I could have given out conflicting posts or signals. But if you are a republican who made the transition from physical force to a stage where you believe its better to try to achive your goals by peaceful means, then of course you are going to run the risk of given out conflicting signals to some who havent or wont move on. That seems to be what happened here Ned. The situation has moved on and the Republican movement has moved on with it. I think you might have judged me by pre-peace standards. But dont feel alone because your not!

Ned Kelly
31-05-2008, 11:33
I'm Glad we have moved on Kieran, but there is no place in that movement for the nazi paisley, he has stepped on the HOLY GROUND literally and that cannot be forgiven! If you cannot see my problem with that or those who welcomed him? .I cannot move on from there, my place of birth has been defiled by the devil himself. I will have to leave it there I'm afraid, theres no going back and no going forward. i'm in limbo!

Kieran
31-05-2008, 15:44
I see your point Ned, (another consequence of the conflict). I know its no consolation now but he literly retired from public life yesterday. I wonder if we are around in 20-30 years time, how history will report him and if young people will remember or care!

Ned Kelly
02-06-2008, 11:36
He might have retired from public life But he has left his poisonous diatribe for the world!
He Cannot and Never will be Forgiven for what he has done, innocent blood is on his hands. He was welcomed into the Cradle of Republicanism by so called Irish men and Women, traitors one and all!
We can move on and I hope we will but not with the like of that Murdering hypocrite having any say in it! ROT IN HELL PAISLEY!!

Kieran
03-06-2008, 14:31
Yip, but if hate and bigotry could be fought by hate and bigotry it would have been sorted long ago. Right now people from his community are probably saying the same about his former political oponents and are buying front seat tickets in hell to seeing them burn. one mans bigot is anothers hero, so if he is to be judged, he will be and so will the rest of us too! It will still be interesting to see how history judges him (the bigot or the one who did the deal). Just consider how 15 or 20 years ago here, historians ridiculed and practically spat on the 1916 leaders, sayiing how it was all a big mistake by a bunch of fanactical dreamers, so on. It's only in the last few years that its becoming ok to remember and honour their memories, but only if its an official government commemoration. If its an Sinn Fein organised one, then you run the risk of being photographed and filmed by the Special Branch. Some things change -some dont!

Ned Kelly
04-06-2008, 11:37
He done the deal K? Seems to me that the Irish involvement has as usual had to capitulate to the loyalist agenda. Not an inch unless the nationals move a mile!
Am i wrong a chara?

Kieran
04-06-2008, 14:14
I think even you will have to admit that alot of people on every side moved a few miles Ned, and it was because of that that the not an inch days are over!

Ned Kelly
05-06-2008, 12:00
No way Jose, Always the Irish have to move heaven and earth for the others whoever they may be to come to the party, Bribery is the word of the day!
Bend over paddy take it like a girl or we ain't agreeing to nothin!
No offense meant to the female population

Kieran
05-06-2008, 15:31
But thats our big point of difference Ned. We are all Irish (Paddies), even those with British allegiances. Its our task to persuade and educate them to realising that A) they are Irish and were born in a place called ireland and B) its all ours to own and share in and that we can all make this a great place together.
Before you go off on one Ned and say never, never, they are not Irish and we will never make them so, as long as they -this or that, then I would say, you are quiet entitled to that view but you would be merely echoing the mirror opposite of entrenched unionism. I would also have to say, you would be giving up any true pretence to aspiring to a democratic non-sectarian inclusive 32 county republic. We have to start somewhere and if we cannot include those that are or were unionists in the Republic, then we will never have that republic. Of course we can continue to aspire to a republic, we can sit in our armchairs and on bar stools and sing republican songs, and even criticise those whom we believe to be less republican and pure than us, but unfortunately that will always be our greatest contribution to the ever evasive republic that we claim hold dearly. Not good eneough Ned, and never will be in my book!

Mike
05-06-2008, 15:32
even those with British allegiances.

Hey. Leave me outta it.

Kieran
06-06-2008, 10:08
Na'h Mike, you are an Atlantonian by allegiance!

Ned Kelly
06-06-2008, 11:54
Educate the orange order . gimme a fuckin break???

Kieran
07-06-2008, 10:48
Who was talking about the orange order? If you were or are following things a little closer Ned, you might find the old order isnt as nearly as powerful or as relevant as they once were. Things have passed them by, many of their own people certainly have. By the way Ned, have you ever visited any part of that 'OUR' country before? maybe you have or maybe you havnt, its certainly worth a gander these days to witness the difference with how it used to be!

Ned Kelly
07-06-2008, 12:01
I been to enniskillen and that seemed to be part of of our country but also been to belfast and that definetely did'nt!!

Kieran
07-06-2008, 21:39
Well we had a Shinner Mayor elected to Belfast City Hall the other day Tom Hartley,(2nd in about 5 or 6 years) so we are moving forward. As far as I know, eniniskillen and belfast would be a fairly even unionist/nationalist devided, slightly more unionists than nationalists but it is changing, as is the overall population.

Kieran
08-06-2008, 10:59
I remember being at a republican rally in Belfast in 1997 and the objective of the exercise was to get into the city centre to be able to say that nationalists had the right to march in the centre of their city just like unionists, (never had since troubles began, or since the State was formed). Needless to say, the RUC and Army had a ring of steel around the place and let go with the battons when we tried to push forward. One cannot but say we have made progress when we now control city hall and share power at stormont!

Ned Kelly
09-06-2008, 12:00
In 97 did u get to shake hands with the antichrist?
Or did that just happen when the antichrist was invited to our Homeplace?

Kieran
09-06-2008, 17:18
What do you think, o wise one?

Ned Kelly
10-06-2008, 11:13
The Oracle I ain't! But I know what i believe in, Do you a chara?

Kieran
11-06-2008, 07:49
I do, and also know what you dont believe in, and you remind us of it here on a daily basis, other peoples right to a different view. If your looking for clones, just check the mirror, because its the closest you'l get to one Ned.

Its really ,really time to get over it Ned. If you can. If you cant, well I cant help you!

Ned Kelly
11-06-2008, 14:56
I'm not looking for your help Kieran or anyones for that matter, I have my opinion and nobody will change it especially those that shook hands with the devil, as far as clones go maybe you should have a look in the mirror yourself, cos this buachill is no clone!
Change is good as long as we don't have bleeding heart individuals saying what happened in the past is of no consequence to the thinking of today, what happened in the past has everything to do with today and if you and your ilk can't see that well I can't help you either!

Kieran
11-06-2008, 15:37
Right Ned, we now know what your against but what exactly are you for?

Lets see, you say you aspire to republican teachings -good.
You say you are for powersharing if it helps bring peace, or words to that effect.
You never said if you agree with Sinn Fein sitting down, shaking hands and sharing power with Paisley and his pepeople, but i fail to see how you can have one without the other. You never explained either how you could presumably agree with powersharing and with Sinn Fein welcoming Paisley to Dublin and Meath but not Cobh. Unless of course you feel its okay to do what you feel is the dirty business up there over the border but not down here and certainly "not in my home town". In which case, you would be another one of those confused contradictory '26 county republicans'.
You never explained either who exactly you expected Republicans to share power with (Legion of Mary?) It was always going to be with unioinsts and always with Mr. Paisley the (Anti-christ) So you are for Powersharing Ned or you are against it, and feck off with your I'm for it But'. You cant cherrypick the bits of powersharing you dont like in this real life situation Ned. (very much like the racists who begin every sentence with the words 'I'm not a racist But'.
As a republican Ned, you will be familiar with the most commongly quoted line in the 1916 proclamation "Cherishing all of the children of the nation equally" That includes the children of Orangemen Ned, lest you doubt me, I'll remind you that 1/3 of our republican flag is orange. It also includes the children of foreign nationals who were born here and whos' parents pay taxes here.
But after all that Ned, you began your last post by saying I have my own opinion and nobody will change it. Right Ned practice what you preach and respect and accept that there are others out here whos opinion you will never change also.
You will also note Ned, we are the only two discussing this tired old topic. I'd imagine other users of this site are well tired of it. I'm only still replying to you because like a spoilt child that cant get your way, you try to get the dig in about paisley in virtually every thread (sad). Finally Ned, I'm not asking for your help either, I'd gladly move on here but you cant seem to do that. And as for forgetting the past (Never) but as Bobby Sands once said "Our Revenge Will Be The Laughter Of Our Children". Some of us are working on that!

Ned Kelly
12-06-2008, 14:18
Well said Kieran!!! The only problem I have is with paisley, I hate the man and his teachings, He has not changed one iota and may i say nor has his followers!
You just can't seem to get a grip of what that bastard has done to our town, he has partitioned it. I just cannot understand how Cobh people shook his hand. I can't move on from there!
Pointless to carry on so I will just draw a line here!

Kieran
12-06-2008, 14:50
Well put by you also Ned. You and I agree with a lot more than you think. Its how we go about execising it is where we might sometimes differ.
Believe me, there is an awful lot of good people who had to bite their lips over parts of this peace deal, but rather than walk away, they did it and bourne the brunt of a pile of shit because of the bigger goal/prize thats at the end of it. Some have already borne fruit and there is a lot of positivity out there about the future.
I will always respect your right to disagree with me on the paisley incident(which is well recorded here), and I admire your decision in now drawing a line under it. Well done mo chara!
